Secret of Kells: I saw this movie last week and have been wanting to replicate its style.
I really don't usually like the simple art style that was in this film, but it was so well done that I have to say it was pretty impressive. It was simple yet the movements and flow and rhythm of them were reminiscent of past traditional animated movies. The colors were vibrant and alive and made up for the simplicity.
It was a very "different" kind of film. I say you would really have to be familiar with Irish folklore and mythology for it to really make perfect sense. It was interesting.

Technique ImpactI love this drawing! The art looks almost exactly like it would be out of the film, which is a hard thing to achieve with a work as unique and brilliant as "The Secret of Kells." Good job on capturing both Aisling and Pangur Ban very nicely.
As for the choice of drawing: while I'll admit it's beautiful (and the leaves and vines are eye candy for sure), Aisling and Pangur ban (or a combination of the two) are the most popular "Secret of Kells" fan art choices. I would like to see more of Brendan, or brother Aidan, or even those sweet-looking vikings.
Long story short: You've captured the movie superbly. The subject matter is very common, so that deadens the impact of this otherwise-wonderful artwork. In fact, I'd like to see you attempt some of the other characters I've mentioned (or maybe even Crom! That would be pretty cool <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt="
